Therapeutic Placement

"My son, aged 9 has several different diagnoses including ASD and ADHD and was receiving an education at a private, highly specialized ABA day school. While he had had made some improvements, especially in the academic field, his social skills were lacking. He had no friends and was very lonely. His behavior towards me spiraled at home and behavioral interventions, medications just weren’t getting to the root of the problem. As a single

mother, I was completely burnt out and didn’t know what to do. My son’s psychiatrist recommended a residential placement and I knew it was the only thing we had not tried. I was in the process of finding a residential placement but felt overwhelmed by the numerous google searches, horror reviews and unsuccessful stories. The attorney who represented us in New York City recommended some educational consultants. This was the first time I had come across Gaby, she came highly recommended. I interviewed her along with other candidates and felt an instant connection to her. She took the time to get to know me, my son, interviewed his teachers, his doctors and put together a very concise profile. Based on her analysis, she then made some recommendations for my son in the US. I informed her I would be open to any location in the US as long as the program was right for my little boy. She had contacted the schools to ensure they would be willing to accept my son’s profile. We did a virtual walk through with each school and carefully considered all the pros and cons. I was able to bounce ideas off Gaby and she was respectful and very empathetic of my concerns. This was a very stressful and anxiety ridden time for us and Gaby was reassuring and provided ample support throughout this entire process. She made herself available and I felt she genuinely cared about my son and his wellbeing. When my son’s placement was decided, I realized I was short on funds. Gaby helped us look for scholarships, took the time to talk to school on tuition costs, helped negotiate fees and worked alongside my attorney to ensure we were being compliant. She gave me the courage to ask my family for the tuition which I did and luckily they were able to help us out. Now my son has a successful placement and I could not be happier with the school she recommended. It has the best clinical team and it was exactly what my son needed as a first placement school. Gaby is still working with us to ensure my son thrives and she stays on top of the school diligently to ensure my son’s needs are being met. During treatment meetings, she asks all the right questions to the school and ensures I am comfortable with their responses. Gaby has become like family to us and my son and I are forever grateful for her kind efforts and dedication in helping us find a placement. Executive Functioning Coaching

More specifically, my daughter was diagnosed in 1st grade and we've been managing her symptoms since that point with meds, behavioral interventions, and parent coaching. Coming into January 2022, I began to see C struggling with what I considered to be executive functioning skills. Gabriela worked with C throughout her 5th grade year and equipped her with the foundational and emotional support that was necessary for her to be successful. Not to mention, she was C's advocate with the school and assisted the process of putting a 504 plan in place.
